Your Alignment with the High-Noon Sun
Our Sun-Moon Cycle for Step 3 designates the full sun at its highest point of Midday - also at its highest point at this time is your internal fire, or Agni, that is crucial to digesting both food and emotions - when your fire is balanced, your digestion is able to transform food to nutrition and emotions to peace of mind. In our practice of Ayurveda, this is how we maintain balance between Digestion and Appetite by not letting one overlap with the other - as with a meal or a thought process, we finish completely digesting the previous before we feed our appetite to transform the next - to nutrition and/or peace of mind. In the practice of Ayurveda, around noon is when we eat our largest meal of the day which requires our strongest internal fire to metabolize.
Mid-Day Metabolism
The Essential Mind-Body Balancer for Step 3 is METABOLISM. This is how we maintain balance between Digestion and Appetite by not letting one overlap with the other - as with a meal or a thought process, we finish completely digesting the previous before we feed our appetite to transform the next - to nutrition and/or peace of mind. The principles of Ayurveda guides us to the right food choices, for our unique, and distinct compositions, matched to the most supportive thought processes while we're eating - ideally, in the more serene lunchrooms of our lives.
Aroma of Lavender for the Mind
For the aromatherapy to calm the mind, we use Lavender as our Ayurvedic aroma for Metabolism - the aroma of Lavender has a soothing influence to calm an agitated mind - with also a slightly cooling influence - this is important to balance the rising body heat during digestion; having a relaxed mind while feeding your appetite makes your physical process of digestion much more efficient.
Touch of Ginger for the Body
For the touch-therapy to nourish the body, we use Ginger as our primary Ayurvedic herbal rub for Metabolism - in Ayurveda, Ginger is the Universal Remedy and this King of the Spices is one of the few medicinal substances that works on all three phases of gastrointestinal function: digestion to absorption to elimination. Additional benefits of topically applying Ginger to the body is the relief of tension headaches and sore muscles and joints.
TIME as Your Teacher of Metabolism
Our Step 3 Designator - gets you over the hump toward that total of 7 1/2 minutes of five - 00:90 second - Self-Love sessions - in your improving Relationship with TIME - after completing Step 3, we now stand at 4 1/2 minutes of 3 good decisions thus far in our day. For your Ayurveda lunchtime strategy, please consider eating in silence and solitude then going to socialize. Compare how you feel after eating mindfully with focus on each chew and in a state of gratitude for the nourishment you are receiving - compared to eating around that loud lady from accounting ranting about road rage.
Affirmation of Your Harmonious Nutrition
For your Love of Self in alignment with an Ayurvedic daily routine, your METABOLISM ritual is conducted around lunchtime. This is your biggest meal of the day and it requires the most mind-body awareness to digest it properly. This is reflected in our Step-3 Affirmation, "Metabolism is my key to properly digest food to nutrition and emotions to mindful harmony." Saying this affirmation ensures that the food you are chewing and the thoughts you are thinking are both spiritually, as well as physically, nourishing.
Harmonizing Your Metabolism by Self-Empowering Abhyanga
For whenever our personal midday meals happen - Let's prepare our OUR COMMITMENT to mind-body harmony to make Empowered Wellness all our Destinies - Place a quarter-sized dab of Metabolism on the inside of your wrist and hold it together lightly with the inside of your other wrist. Now, Gently repeat after me "Metabolism is my key to properly digest food to nutrition and transform emotions to mindful harmony".
While silently holding this affirmation in your forethought, begin to slowly circle the inside of your wrists together - observe where you start to feel the Ginger in your body first as a cooling sensation then where heat begins to focus around your appetite - now focus on your veins and notice a slight rise in your blood flow - Next, open your wrists like a book to deeply inhale the aroma of Lavender - feel its calming influence integrated with floral flavor. Observe where you start to feel the Ginger in your body first as a cooling sensation then where heat begins to gather around your appetite - now focus on your veins and notice a slight rise in your blood flow - Next, feel the supporting sequence of Holy Basil to cleanse the respiratory tract of toxins, then Astragalus for warming energy to the body’s extremities, and then Ginseng - an adaptogen to protect the body from stress responses.
With continued focus on the flow of your breath, follow my self-massage process of Abhyanga - pivot the wrists so your fingers gently stroke the opposite forearm - then pull your hands together and move both up to massage your neck and behind your ears - enjoying the stimulation from your own skin's pharmacy - as you also enhance detoxification - until the Metabolism formula absorbs.
